Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP)

The Syracuse CoE Office for Industry Collaboration would like to extend an offer to our corporate and business partners and for-profit enterprises with a permanent place of business in New York State to submit applications for the competitively awarded Commercialization Assistance Program, CAP. The Commercialization Assistance Program is part of a grant from the Empire State Development Corporation secured by Assemblyman William Magnarelli. The goal of the program is to encourage innovation, product development and entrepreneurship in New York State.

NY State Assemblyman William Magnarelli announces the impact that the NYIEQ Center's first Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP) will have on job creation in the field of Indoor Environmental Quality at Upstate Medical University's Institute for Human Performance.

The intent of this request for proposals (RFP 01-2007) is to solicit promising commercialization projects from area businesses and industries in the three focus areas of the Syracuse Center of Excellence: Indoor Environmental Quality, Water Resources, and Clean and Renewable Energy. It is anticipated that four (4) awards will be made, for a combined total of up to $200,000. Most awards are typically in the $50,000 range.

To qualify for CAP IV, the proposing company must provide matching funds of at least 1 to 1 for every dollar funded through this program. The matching funds can include cash or in-kind services.

Through an open and competitive RFP process, the Syracuse CoE Office for Industry Collaboration selects projects that have the best chance of succeeding and economically benefiting Central New York. A description of the opportunity is provided in RFP-01-2007.
